What PIC/S PE 010-4 means in practice 

PIC/S PE 010-4 is the guide for good practices in the preparation of medicinal products in healthcare establishments. Although it is sometimes described as “GMP light”, the structure and underlying principles are closely aligned with established GMP practice. 

In practice, inspectors are expected to focus on areas such as: 

  • cleaning processes and washer performance 

  • sterilization using autoclaves 

  • validated cycles and loading patterns 

  • traceability and data integrity 

While the scale of hospital preparation differs from industry, expectations around control and documentation remain high.
