Meet Elien Van den Borre, our new colleague at eyetec

From academic research to medical technology  

Elien began her career in academia, working for several years as a PhD researcher and later as a postdoctoral fellow. After her Academic career she worked for a large company specializing in hearing and sound-related solutions. There she worked as a Sales & Product Manager, leading both the sales and technical teams within the medical devices division focused on ENT (ear, nose, and throat) professionals. After a year and a half in that combined commercial and technical role, she made the move to eyetec.

“What immediately appealed to me about eyetec is that it’s a smaller company with lots of opportunities. It offers the flexibility of a dynamic environment while still being large enough to bring ideas to life. You really have the space here to take initiative and make an impact.” 

A true passion for sport  

If you assume Elien spends her evenings relaxing on the couch, think again. Sport plays a major role in her life; she trains for about fifteen hours a week on average. 

“Running is my main activity, but because I’m prone to injury, I started incorporating strength training and mobility work about ten years ago. What began as rehabilitation has turned into a real passion.”
